Abstract
Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) represents the most common subtype of cutaneous lupus erythematosus. Although clinical characteristics of DLE have been well described, differentiation from inflammatory, infectious and neoplastic skin diseases remains problematic in a certain proportion of patients, and biopsies are often required in order to establish a definitive diagnosis.
