Abstract
This chapter, focusing on the often-obscure topic of “back-EMF”, opens with the application of Faraday’s and Lenz’s laws, proceeding to the transfer of energy in the driver, a detailed analysis of the processes producing back-EMF, and the application of Newton’s laws of motion for the driver. The chapter closes with calculations of energy conservation and a thorough analysis of the intimate relation between back EMF and power transfer.
