Abstract
Online education is a primary strategy for expanding education to those who have not traditionally been able to access or do not fit with a traditional on-campus education; it is also an approach for institutions to grow their market and profit base. Yet, to adhere to the promise of expanded access to education and equitable success that virtual learning often promises, the core of teaching and learning must be theoretically and practically built to be inclusive, disrupt oppressions, provide engaged learning, and promote equity in student learning. Throughout the volume authors highlight and advocate for theories and practices that instructors can apply to improve their online classrooms with the goals of creating quality learning accessible to all.
