Abstract

Medicine is a scientific discipline and represents a branch of applied science dealing with the maintenance of health through diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of physical and mental disease in humans (Fig. 3.1). Medicine constitutes applied biological science that deals with the study and treatment of living organisms and focuses on aspects of biology that define and influence the human condition.
