Abstract
This chapter contains all relevant paediatric surgical conditions of the abdominal wall. There are frequent conditions as umbilical hernia and inguinal hernia, which surgical diagnosis and treatment are straightforward. Omphaloenteric duct and persistent urachus are very much less frequent and require diagnostically skills. The major congenital abdominal wall defects, omphalocele and laparoschisis are rare, usually around 1:3000–7000 livebirths. These conditions should be diagnosed prenatally, which prompts delivery and treatment in specialized centres. Mortality in omphalocele is still considerable and mostly due to associated malformations as trisomias, heart and diaphragmatic defects.
