Abstract
Our House, planet Earth, is on fire and our privacy – our home – is threatened. I suggest these phenomena are results of an economistic approach to thinking about who we are as human beings and what we consider success, i.e. the meaning of life. I posit that the currently dominating theories neglect the idea of intrinsic value - i.e. dignity of life and therefore destroys it. In the chapter I argue that by reconnecting with the insights and wisdom of the humanities we can create better theories that encompass dignity and aim towards well-being. The resulting archetypes can guide management thinkers and practitioners to create more humane organizations, a more humane economy and a more humane society.

There has been a long discussion in the literature on science being non-normative and purely descriptive. The author subscribes to the view that even taking a position that management science is non-normative is a normative stance.
