Abstract
Boron is not one of the micronutrients that most limits crop yields due to its low soil availability. Thus, tropical crops have a high productive response to its application. In this chapter, we will discuss initially (i) basic aspects of B in the soil; (ii) B uptake, transport, and redistribution; (iii) B metabolism; (iv) nutritional requirements for B in crops; (v) B extraction, export, and accumulation by the main crops; (vi) B deficiency and toxicity symptoms.
