Abstract
Acute onset bilateral lung infiltrates on CXR and hypoxemia (ALI = pAO2/F1O2 ≤ 300 mm Hg to severe form ARDS = pAO2/F1O2 ≤ 200 mm Hg) without clinical evidence of left atrial hypertension (or PCWP <18 mm Hg).
