Abstract

In case you’re thinking about ordering your custom-tailored bespoke spacesuit from Amazon for your new life in space, don’t hold your breath because the odds are against you or any other human working in space in the foreseeable future. That’s not to say there won’t be lots of work going on in space, just not so much work done by people. There will be mining, manufacturing, energy production, communications, and even vast agricultural plantations to feed humanity. There’ll be lots going on in space. But there just won’t be lots of people doing the work in space. Sophisticated AI-driven robotics will be the likely space workforce for decades to come, but not you. Sorry.
