Abstract
One of the controversies in global bioethics is whether ethical principles are universally applicable or limited to a specific cultural context. Some anthropological and sociological studies advance the idea that globalization is in fact a form of Westernization. Moral values are dependent on cultures and traditions and hence can only be applied in specific cultural settings. According to this view global bioethics is the imposition of a specific form of local ethics (i.e., ethical principlism as developed in Western countries).
