Abstract
If the view is correct, that the pathogen responsible for the encephalitis can still be present in the organism as a virulent seed years after infection, there would be significant consequences for the prognosis of our encephalitis patients. Each person who had survived encephalitis epidemica would then be bearing within themselves a volcano which could erupt again at any time: with dire consequences for the carrier. Heinrich Pette, 1922
