Abstract
Google launched the Google Cloud Platform with the first service called App Engine in preview in April 2008. Two years later, Google Cloud Storage was offered as the next service. Further service developments and releases continued steadily over the years with, among others, Google Compute Engine in preview in 2012 and Google Kubernetes as a fully managed service on the Google Cloud in Alpha in 2014, when Kubernetes was also released to the market as an open source project by Google.
