Abstract

We present the construction and in-field testing of three insert coils using Bi-2212 conductor with pure silver and alloyed silver stabilizer. We use a stacked double pancake configuration, where double pancakes are wound from one piece of conductor. Insulation, impregnation, and winding techniques are discussed as well as characteristics of the coils in background fields up to 17 and 21 T respectively at 4.2 K. Stability of the coils against overcurrent is also investigated.
