Method of the Neutron-Diffraction Determination of Magnetic Structures

  • Chapter
Magnetic Neutron Diffraction

Abstract

In this section we shall derive an experimental-physicist’s version of all the main formulas determining the elastic coherent scattering of neutrons by crystals; this will form a basis for the neutron-diffraction method of determining the magnetic structure of crystals. In doing this we have based our considerations on the arguments of the foregoing sections and (for the sake of clarity and convenience) have also used the theory of x-ray structural analysis.
