Abstract
The polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB’s) have come to prominence recently because of the substantial levels that have been found in the environment and because of claims that feed contaminated by these materials had caused reproductive failure in chickens (Picrirallo 1971). A recent review in this book series (Reynolds 1971) has covered the problems of analysis in the presence of pesticide residues and this aspect will not be covered here. This review will be concerned with the levels found in the environment and an evaluation of toxicological and physiological effects.
