Pesticides, PCBs, and Related Chemicals

  • Chapter
Diseases of Wild Waterfowl

Abstract

Agriculture and lifestyles throughout much of the world are based upon the use of pesticides and other chemicals and no portion of the biosphere is free from resulting residues. Birds are often incidental victims of compounds the primary target of which is a nonavian species. Discussion here will deal primarily with insecticides, because the effects of other pesticides, such as herbicides and fungicides, on waterfowl are largely unknown.
