Abstract
Concrete is a versatile engineering material, probably more widely used than any other construction material. Its versatility stems from our ability to tailor it to provide specific properties within a fairly wide range and to mold it into almost any desired shape and accounts for its wide acceptance and use. It can be mixed at the construction site or at a central location and transported to the site, or it can be used to precast structural elements at a central “factory” location for later erection at a specific site.
