The easiest and cheapest opportunities for capturing and distributing water were accessed long ago, and new schemes now cost several times more per unit of water supplied than ever before. Unless there is a sudden advance in technology (such as greatly reducing the cost of purification or desalinization, or conveyance), the cost of providing water will continue to rise. The future threats may be the nonsustainable management imposition. The solution approaches lie on the build up of engineering structures and adoption of conservation measures.
