Abstract
What is this book about? It’s about Web Services, it’s about business strategies, and it’s about architectures. This collection of papers aims to shed light on the impact of Web Services on an organization and its functional processes. Consequently, we do not become embroiled in a technical discussion of programming implementation details, instead taking an architectural view of the subject. If you need to know what Web Services are in more general terms, without seeing actual implementations — why and how they might have a role to play in your business — then this is the book for you. It is therefore aimed as much at IT managers and business decision makers as it is at systems architects and lead developers with an eye for the bigger picture.
