Summary
Investigations into the parameters which affect the output noise level of power hacksaws have been carried out. The discussion includes suggestions whereby the noise level can be reduced by careful selection of cutting force and blade pitch without recourse to elaborate acoustic enclosures. The philosophy of noise reduction recommended in this paper whereby cutting parameters may be controlled may with success be adopted in other machine tools.
