Summary

This paper states that the successful business is one that makes the best use of working capital and demonstrates a technique for examining this, principally in a general engineering environment with low batches and a high design engineering content. The technique is used to develop a manufacturing efficiency ratio, and methods of improving this ratio are discussed.
