Abstract
Anne was born at Thornton on 17 January 1820, three months before the Brontës removed to Haworth. Miss Firth of Kip** House was one of her godparents, and Mr Brontë’s friend William Morgan, incumbent of Christ Church, Bradford, baptized her, as he had done her three elder sisters, Maria, Charlotte, and Emily. Anne, who lost her mother when she was eight months old, was a delicate child, subject to asthma. Aunt Branwell travelled to Yorkshire for the second time in May, and remained one of the family at Haworth until her death in 1842; Anne and Branwell were her favourite children.
