Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of molecular outflows on the evolution of disks in young stellar objects (YSOs), we are in the process of carrying out unbiased outflow surveys of the nearest star-forming molecular cloud core at optical and nearinfrared (NIR) wavelengths. The frequency of outflow drivers among the later stages of pre-main-sequence evolution is now being systematically determined for the first time. The importance of high-resolution (R = 17,000) NIR spectroscopy for identifying the outflow driving sources in high extinction regions is demonstrated for the case of GY 30, a faint Class II/Class III object in ρ Oph that drives a molecular outflow.
