Symmetry between Some Methods of Autonomous Spacecraft Navigation and Methods of Determining Their Position from Earth

Abstract

We discovered that for some nonautonomous methods of navigation in space, there are autonomous methods ‘‘symmetrical’’ to them, in which all measurements are carried out only from the board of the spacecraft, the position of which is to be determined. In this case, the measurement results obtained in the corresponding nonautonomous methods are replicated. From the moment of obtaining the similar type of measurements, processing in both ‘‘symmetric’’ methods is carried out using identical algorithms. Two pairs of such methods are considered. The difference in the degree of ‘‘symmetry’’ and possibility of using intermediate data for observation processing is discussed.
