Abstract

Probabilistically guaranteed assessment of the current condition of onboard aircraft systems and prediction of faults is possible in the absence of a priori information regarding the permissible ranges of the systems’ parameters. The proposed approach is based on the concept of a standard profile of the system of interest, consisting of a set of points in parameter space corresponding to fault-free system operation. Compact description of the standard profile yields probabilistically guaranteed estimates of the system’s condition and also fault prediction. Algorithms are described for calculating the parameters of the standard profile in compact form. A web service is developed to generate probabilistically guaranteed fault predictions for an aircraft’s gas-turbine engines. An example of its use is presented.
