Spectral Changes of the Second Harmonic during the Conversion and Amplification of a Chirped Pulse

Abstract

Results are presented from experimental and theoretical studies of spectral profile of second harmonic radiation with a central wavelength of 475–477 nm during its formation in a nonlinear KDP crystal and amplification in XeF(C-A) amplifier, depending on the sign of the chirp and the intensity of radiation. It is shown how the spectrum is deformed by the so-called red or blue shift after amplification in a gas amplifier, and similar deformation of the second harmonic spectrum downstream of a nonlinear crystal is noted.
