Bioregulatory Therapy in Gerontostomatology: Achievements and Prospects

Abstract

Today, the growing proportion of elderly and old people in the population structure is practically a world-scale phenomenon. Population aging has changed the functional scope for doctors of various specialties, including dentists, making improvements in the quality of dental care and the lives of older people a top priority. An important factor in maintaining the health of people in older age groups is bioregulation, a complex set of intercellular interactions for the maintenance of homeostasis that is responsible for the course of such important physiological processes as the differentiation and division of cells, tissue regeneration, aging of the body, the exchange and reproduction of genetic information, and many others. The goal of bioregulatory therapy is to eliminate homeostasis disorders in order to normalize the functions of damaged cells, tissues, and organs. The purpose of this work is to study the main directions of the use of bioregulatory therapy and its achievements and prospects in the field of gerontostomatology. This paper presents the main results of bioregulatory therapy in gerontostomatology in the treatment of diseases of the periodontium, oral mucosa, and temporomandibular joint, odontogenic pyoinflammatory diseases, and foci of stomatogenic chronic infection, as well as the prospects for their further application.
