Abstract

The results are discussed of a predictive appraisal of porphyry gold–copper mineralization within the Ryabinovoe orefield that is based on a comprehensive approach to studying petrographic and geochemical characteristics of hydrothermally altered rocks. The map** of the fields of weakly manifested hydrothermal–metasomatic mineralization and wallrock metasomatites demonstrated that the emplacement of the Ryabinovyi syenite massif was accompanied by the formation of pluton-type hydrothermal–metasomatic zoning, which is represented by aegirine feldspathoid and gumbeite halos in the inner parts of the massif and by contact skarnification, fenitization, and propylitization halos in the aureole. The main specific petrochemical and geochemical characteristics (specialization) of wallrock metasomatites and areal hydrothermal–metasomatic alteration were established. The fact that gumbeitization halos combined with positive AuAgCuBi, BaMoPb, and AsSbHg anomalies could be used as the main criteria for the prediction of porphyry gold–copper ore mineralization within the Ryabinovoe orefield is demonstrated. Recommendations for further prospecting and appraisal operations within localized prospective areas are proposed.
