Hydroxylated Pillar[7]arene: Synthesis and Complexing Properties with Pyrene

  • Published:
Russian Journal of General Chemistry Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

An original method for the preparation of pillar[7]arene containing free hydroxyl groups was developed. Using UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy, the ability of the synthesized pillar[7]arene to interact with a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, pyrene, was shown. The association constant and stoichiometry of the pillar[7]arene–pyrene complex were log Ka 4.1 and 1 : 1, respectively. The spatial structure of the resulting complex was confirmed by 2D 1H–1H NMR NOESY and DOSY spectroscopy method.
