Formation of a Ni3Al Intermetallic Coating by Cold Spray Deposition of a Ni–Al Powder Mixture Mechanically Processed in a Planetary Mill

Abstract

Specific features of the formation of a Ni3Al intermetallic coating by cold gasdynamic spraying of a Ni–Al powder mixture mechanically processed in a planetary mill and prepared in a V-shaped mixer are considered. It is shown that the powder utilization factor is 1.5 times higher when the coatings are prepared from a mechanically processed Ni–Al powder mixture. Subsequent high-temperature processing in a furnace chamber provides conditions for the formation of a Ni–Al intermetallic compound with different stoichiometric proportions.
