Abstract
AN intriguing problem in astrophysics is the determination of the conditions which prevail at the centre of the Galaxy. X-rays can penetrate the intervening dust and gas which obscure visible light from this region, and we show here that they may thus provide a sensitive probe of the hot gas and peculiar objects which may populate the Galactic Centre.
