Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common disease. In the Netherlands the prediction scale depression after stroke (DePreS) was developed to assess the risk of PSD in stroke patients in the first week after the stroke event. A German version of the instrument does not yet exist.
Aim
The aim was to translate the DePreS from Dutch into German.
Method
The instrument was translated in accordance with ISPOR recommendations by two independently prepared forward and two backward translations with intermediate and subsequent review and harmonization phases. In a subsequent cognitive debriefing with potential users of the instrument, the comprehensibility and clarity of the translated items and the applicability of the instrument were examined.
Results
Between September 2016 and January 2017 the DePreS was translated from Dutch into German. The comparison of the backward translations with the harmonized German version as well as the original version revealed regional linguistic differences in the Netherlands. This resulted in adaptations of the wording in the German language version of two items. Cognitive debriefing was conducted with 18 potential users. The items of the instrument were understandable for all participants. It became clear that users needed additional information to use the instrument, which was added to the instrument as an instruction guide.
Conclusion
Before the DePreS-G can be used as a German language instrument to assess the risk of PSD in acute treatment, the instrument will be validated in a subsequent project.
