Abstract

This work involves bioplastic from starch, natural gum, and natural fibre. Starch, PLA, Diospyros malabarica, and Passiflora fibre have good potential as raw materials to make biodegradable sheets. This study aims to create and compare the physical properties of starch-based, non-coated bio-sheets and PLA-coated bio-sheets. The results revealed from the X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) that 91% amorphous region was observed in PLA-coated bio-sheet, and the thermogravimetric analysis shows that the maximum working temperature of PLA bio-sheets was observed at 361 °C. Also, the morphological analysis identified the particles blended, and material porosity can be analysed. From this study, bio-sheet is more highly biodegradable than PLA-coated bio-sheet.
