Summary

Gentiana albomarginata C.Marquand was proposed as a replacement name for G. albescens (Franch.) Franch. ex Kusn., which was long considered as a later homonym of G. albescens Favre. However, G. albescens Favre was actually not validly published. Therefore, G. albescens (Franch.) Franch. ex Kusn. is the correct name for the species, and G. albomarginata is nomenclaturally superfluous and illegitimate.
