Abstract

The counseling self-efficacy is of a pivotal role in the effectiveness of psychological counseling, which makes equally essential the scale that can measure its various dimensions. The aim of the present study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Psychologists and Counselors Self-Efficacy Scale (PCES). To do so, a total of 610 Iranian counselors and psychologists were asked to complete an online questionnaire. The results of face and content validity tests showed that the PCES held acceptable validity. The confirmatory factor analysis supported the five factors of the PCES and the model fit indices were acceptable when it came to goodness of fit. The composite reliability and Cronbach's alpha coefficient showed suitable reliability, as correlation between the five domains and the State Hope Scale, the Flourishing Scale and the Social Desirability Scale provided convergent validity for the PCES and its five domains. Due to the desirable psychometric properties of the Persian version of the psychologist and counselor self-efficacy scale, the use of this scale in supervision and employment of counselors and psychologists is recommended.
