Abstract

Verneuil’s disease or hidradenitis is considered as an orphan’s disesase, although it is not uncommon. It is an inflammatory and suppurating chronic condition develo** on skin areas with apocrine glands. It causes painful sores, deep type nodules, abscesses and pus discharge. The diagnosis is often delayed. Morbid associations are described with Crohn’s disease, ankylosing spondylitis, pilonidal disease and dermatologic diseases. The disease significantly affects the quality of life. The pathophysiology of the disease is a complex combination of genetic, environmental (tobacco, obesity) factors and dysregulation of the immune system of the hair follicle.
