Abstract

Nd-Yag laser with wavelength (λ) = 1064nm at different energy (5, 6.5, 8) J/cm2 and fixed number of pulses (600 pulses) was used to prepare PbS QDs in aromatic solvent benzene for the first time in this work according to our knowledge. A liquid medium used the benzene for ablation to prevent the PbS QDs from forming clumps. UV–Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and Photoluminescence measurement were used to examine the optical, structural, as well as morphological features of PbS QDs. Depending on XRD patterns, the synthesized PbS QDs exhibit a nanocrystalline and cubic (FCC) structure. The direct optical energy gap of PbS QDs within the range of (2), (2.4) and (2.5) eV. The Photoluminescence emission spectra and excitation spectra of PbS the emission peak fixed around 400–470 nm, the crystallites sizes are found from 4.5 to 7 nm recorded.
