The paper presents a classification of positive displacement piston hybrid power machine (PDPHPM) designs. For the jacket cooling of a piston compressor, it is advisable to use the compressor piston to provide suction for both gas and fluid phases. The reverse flow of the fluid can be partially effected using the compressed gas. A schematic diagram of a PDPHPM protected by a patent of the Russian Federation is presented. Based on the developed scheme, a constructive development of a new cylinder- piston group was carried out. A prototype of the machine and an experimental facility for its testing, equipped with the necessary control and measuring equipment, were constructed. The method of measuring the main thermodynamic and flow rate parameters during the machine operation is considered.
