Abstract

This work reports the measurement results of a mock-up chassis that has the same structure as the center column of a real 4U chassis to be developed. The reported results include the measurement data of temperature distribution, vibration level of chassis frame and disk drive holder, and throughput of each disk drive of the mock-up chassis as well as the reliability test of the chassis. Some critical factors that affect the throughput performance will be addressed and discussed. The suggestions to improve the chassis design will be mentioned based on the observations during the mock-up chassis testing and measurement.
