Abstract
In the present paper, Fe–Al intermetallic parts were manufactured by selective laser melting using the mechanically mixed Fe–40 wt.% Al powder. The microstructure and phase analysis were carefully investigated by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The microstructure and phase composition of Fe–Al bulk parts were found to be a strong function of the laser power and scanning speed. Moreover, the controllable FeAl cube part with a sandwich structure was tailored. Different zones of one part have different grain sizes and different hardnesses.
