Summary
Thiobenzamide has proved to be a very sensitive and specific reagent for copper. As little as 0.5μg copper can be definitely detected. The yellow copper-TBA complex solution obeys theLambert-Beer law and accordingly is suitable for the quantitative colorimetric determination of copper. Tests were made of the effect of alkali- and heavy metal salts and also of mineral acids on the reaction.
