Conclusions

  1. 1.

Certain peculiarities of the mechanism of the polymerization of Fe3+ ions in aqueous solutions were investigated, and it was shown that the entire process can be divided into a series of steps: the formation of dimers from mononuclear nitrate and hydroxo complexes of Fe3+, the formation of linear polymers from the dimers, the formation of double polymer molecules (or flat polymer compounds), and the formation of voluminous particles in the interaction of the latter.

  2. 2.

The anion of the initial salt participates actively in the process of polymerization in acid medium at all stages, while the cations of the base evidently have no significant influence on the process of polymerization in acid medium.
