Conclusions
-
1.
The process for the polymerization of metal aquo-ions in mixed aqueous solutions of Fe and Al salts can be subdivided into the following steps: formation of particles of iron hydroxide sol, formation of monomeric and dimeric polynuclear aluminum hydroxo complexes, and formation of particles of aluminum hydroxide sol.
-
2.
The aluminum aquo-ions do not participate in forming the particles of the iron hydroxide sol.
-
3.
The aluminum aqua and hydroxo complexes stabilize the particles of the iron sol and facilitate a retention of their composition and properties clear up to the deposition of a precipitate.
-
4.
The particles of the iron and aluminum sols are formed independently during polymerization.
