Summary

Based on a brief outline of the characteristic features of synchrotron radiation, the possibilities synchrotron radiation offers for chemistry are showcased for X-ray fluorescence analysis, studies of the structure of catalysts by extended X-ray absorption, and the investigation of phase boundaries with X-ray interference fields.
