Abstract
The problem is reduced to a single Fredholm integral equation by using a superposition of two half-plane solutions. The treatment is exact within the theory of linear elastodynamics. Dissipation is introduced in the form of linear viscous dam** at the surface in order to overcome the mathematical difficulties which are associated with the nondecaying surface waves that occur when no dissipation is present.
