Abstract
A study is performed of the excitation of Ce,Pr:Y3Al5O12 crystals by femtosecond laser pulses and high-current electron beams. It is found that Ce3+ and Pr3+ ions are excited by capturing band holes and electrons during the femtosecond three-photon ionization of the intrinsic material of a Ce,Pr:Y3Al5O12 crystal. Ultraviolet femtosecond laser pulses are amplified on Pr3+ ions by pum** Ce,Pr:Y3Al5O12 and Pr:Y3Al5O12 crystals with high-current electron beams.
