Abstract

Inner ear malformations (IEM) represent approximately 20% of congenital hearing loss cases based on radiology [1, 2]. Majority of these patients have bilateral severe to profound hearing loss and are candidates for cochlear implantation. Those cases with severe malformations may require modifications during the surgical approach for implant placement. Decision-making between cochlear implantation (CI) and auditory brainstem implantation (ABI) may also be challenging in some cases of IEMs.
