Abstract
When engineering a system, it is sometimes difficult to understand and address the value expectations of different stakeholders with much certainty. While engineering processes are devised to build quality into the system, the ultimate goal is to deliver value to all stakeholders, which might or might not directly correlate to the usual factors of quality deemed to be important. In this chapter, a systematic approach is presented that utilizes four quadrants: value understanding, value characterization, value proposition, and value realization. This approach will help maximize delivery of system value. Conceptual foundations from the literature for value are discussed.
