So sezerniert die Hypophyse Peptide und Proteohormone, welche Wasserhaushalt (Hypophysenhinterlappen), Stressantwort des Organismus (Nebennierenachse), Fortpflanzung (Gonadenachse), Wachstum (Wachstumshormonachse) und Energiehaushalt (Schilddrüsenachse) steuern.
