Abstract

Lawyers swear an oath to abide by ethical standards, and in most countries, they have a comprehensive code of conduct. We argue that even before reaching the parameter of illegal conduct there is a reasonable number of situations where they do not comply with what could be seen as the optimal outcome for society in general, and that, their actions have a damaging effect on democracy.
